OPENING BUSINESS

Moved by Vern, seconded by Tim, and carried all in favor: to adopt the agenda with no changes.
Minutes approved

and June 2nd, 2021.
OPEN FORUM FOR BOARD MEMBERS
The board discussed the importance of regular attendance.
Tim was welcomed back after being away for his travels.
Memorial Field fencing updates are available per Marianne.
Jefferson County Covid-19 status review.
NEW BUSINESS
Board Member Applicant Interview
The board conducted Taylor McCormack’s interview for the open District 2 position using the
established list of interview questions.
Board Member Application Discussion/ Recommendation for Appointment
Moved by Tim, seconded by Roger, and carried all in favor: a motion to recommend Taylor’s
appointment to the JCPRAB District 2 to the Board of County Commissioners.
Irondale Beach Park Discussion with Susie Learned
Matt Tyler and Susie Learned presented information about Irondale Beach Park and the Washington
Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) Chimacum Creek Wildlife area. There are long-term issues and
opportunities regarding park rules, maintenance, and operations that Susie Learned wants to work on in
partnership with the board and the county as a whole. The board discussed options. More work is
needed before a recommendation can be made. The JCPRAB will coordinate with Susie. Matt Tyler will
follow up with Susie and provide a brief update at the next meeting. Matt Tyler stated that parks and
recreation does not have the resources to provide additional administrative, maintenance, or operations
services at this location.
OLD BUSINESS
CIP Committee Report
A special meeting for the CIP Committee will be scheduled.
Matt will send the project list to the CIP Committee prior to the meeting for review.
Volunteer Small Maintenance List
Matt shared parks maintenance projects that would be eligible for volunteers to complete. This list will
be sent to all board members. Matt shared his appreciation to the board for their eagerness to
volunteer but stressed that volunteering is not a JCPRAB member requirement. The board showed
interest in the volunteer project list and discussed strategies for tackling them.
Volunteer Appreciation Event Planning
Matt will facilitate a Proclamation of Appreciation from the Board of County Commissioners, certificates
of appreciation, and handwritten notes of appreciation by the advisory board throughout the year. The
board informally concurred with this plan.
MANAGER’S REPORT
Matt shared slides from the Work Plan Analysis he presented to the Board of Commissioners.
Recreation programs have been going well with excellent participation.
A newly hired Engineer at Jefferson County Public Works, Anna Romcevich, will be the new
Project Manager for the JUMP Project. They are expecting to go out to bid this January.
Matt will request time at the Board of Commissioner’s County Administrator Briefing for the
JCPRAB to present their annual report.
