Survey collection and updates on total number of surveys
143 collected to date. 180 is the end goal for Port Townsend
Prevention in Jefferson County presentation at Science and Sips lecture series
Lecture series for Washington State Science Teachers Association. 7 people in attendance.
Presented on prevention science, and coalition activities. General feedback- many parents think
the only way to prevent drug and alcohol use is to keep kids super busy. We need to emphasize
that adolescent substance use is a complex challenge and the risk/protective factor framework
shows there are many ways to intervene, both by promoting protective factors and reducing risk
factors. Positive social norms campaign in PT could help with this.
Drug Take Back Day 2019
Port Townsend Drug Take Back collected 100 lbs of prescription and other drugs. Collaboration
with PTPD, Officer Jeremy Vergin was the officer present for the take back at Safeway.
Distributing ‘no vaping’ signs to local businesses
Denise, Karen, Lindsay went around to local businesses with signage and information for local
businesses regarding the Jefferson County ordinance which includes vaping in the no smoking in
public places ordinance.
Prevention Summit November 4-6
Denise and Lindsay attended a three day conference in Yakima and learned about WA state
prevention education updates. Hopefully next year Tasha and potentially some members of the
prevention club will join, we will include funding for this in the next fiscal year’s action plan.

Teen center for LGBTQ youth and their allies. Opening January 6. Will be open from 4-8pm each
Monday, open to 12-17 year olds from 4-6pm, and to 18-24 year olds from 6-8pm
Naloxone Presentation to PT School Board
PTHS Principal Carrie Ehrhardt, Denise, and Lindsay presented to the School Board about the

Sector representation
