Purpose of meeting: Updates on activities, draft letter to OESD 114, plan for Strategic Planning in 2020

Survey collection and updates on total number of surveys- 202 total surveys!
Vaping education at Brinnon Schools- Denise, Karen, and Lindsay presented vaping
education to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students at Brinnon School
Youth Provider meetings- Samantha Troxler- youth host homes, rural solution to youth
homelessness. Invitation to meeting on Friday 12/20 at 10 am at Jefferson County
Library- Pink House
Worksource- Pathways to Success program can help 16-24 year olds get support with
finding a job or pursuing further education/vocational training, distributed flyer with
contact information
Tobacco 21- law goes into effect on January 1, 2020 increasing age to purchase nicotine
products to 21. Distributed flyer with local information about rates of smoking and
vaping, and cessation resources for youth and adults
YMPEP meeting- invitation to Youth Marijuana Prevention and Education Program
(YMPEP) regional meeting- Thursday January 30 from 9am-12:30pm at the Jefferson
County Library, with guest speakers from the WA Liquor and Cannabis Board and the
Department of Health.
Updates from Coalition members
Tasha and Prevention Club have been making a holiday campaign to promote substance free
holidays
4:00 Letter to OESD 114 asking for a Student Assistance Professional at PTHS
Suggestion at the JOIN meeting this month after a discussion from as a way to formally express
the impact of an absent place at PTHS.
Include statistics from SAP report for 2019
Include quotes about the success of the program- from school resource officer, dean of
students, and principal at PTHS
4:15 Plan for January-June meetings: strategic plan for 2020-2021
Coalition discussed how to schedule meetings in 2020 to collaborate on action plan.
Meetings from February to June will be working meetings to complete assessment and action
plan
