Purpose of meeting: Updates on action plan, Coalition Orientation, By-Laws, plan for Strategic Planning in
2020

3:30 Call meeting to order
3:35 Updates from Coordinator
• Guiding Good Choices in the month of March, every Monday in Port Hadlock at JC
Library, every Tuesday in Port Townsend at JCPH
• Rainbow Center updates- opening March 2nd at the PT Community Center, will be
open every Monday from 4-6pm for 12-18 year olds and from 6-8pm for 18-24 year
olds
Updates from Coalition members
• Vaping education at Blue Heron planned for March 16th
• LGBTQ101 for Blue Heron teachers and staff facilitated by Beau Ohlgren of Quimper
Unitarian Universalist Fellowship
3:45 What remains on the Action Plan?
• School based education- potentially covered by Alcohol Literacy- evidence based
program for middle school students, Tasha is already trained in the program
• Cultural competency- LGBTQ101 potential to schedule in the Spring
• Opioid Overdose Response Training
• Continuing Public Awareness Campaigns and Positive Social Norms
3:55 Proposal for Coalition Orientation, workgroup to write bylaws- Lindsay will schedule with
members of original Organizational Development group
4:00 Plan for February-May meetings: strategic plan for 2020-2021
February- share HYS data and local survey data in advance of meeting to review, identify
gaps in use rates/comprehension of risk
*visit from Isaac Wulf- new Prevention Systems Manager for PT
March- update resource assessment
April- Begin Action Planning for 10/1/2020-9/30/2021
May- Finalize Action Planning for 10/1/2020-9/30/2021
Lindsay will send data before next meeting to host review of data in February.
Discussed how to get all parents involved in prevention efforts
Discussed doing a community series on Trauma Informed history and the NEAR sciences
Discussed Love and Logic at Salish Coast Elementary, a really popular program for parents
of elementary students that could be ‘paired’ with GGC (which is designed for parents of 9-
14 year olds)
Discussed framing of prevention around parents who may use substances ‘While alcohol
and cannabis is legal for adults, we’re concerned about adolescent use.’
