3:35 Updates on coalition programs
Guiding Good Choices updates
We have participants registered for both the March and April series, will continue to
promote the program to parents of youth aged 9-14
Policy workgroup
Al provided updates on policy workgroup on adding prevention to the comp plan. Language
in the Growth Management Act leads us to believe public health and safety needs to be a
part of comp plan, particularly prevention language. Prevention tends to get marginalized,
so we have developed strategy to include a goal in the document, informed in part by the
Rucklehouse Center Roadmap to Washington’s Future (an assessment funded by the WA
State legislature).
Right now we are meeting monthly to decide how to promote education and readiness
among leadership to build support for this idea of including prevention in the comp plan.
Denise brought up the idea of including language of a ‘land bank’ (transfer of development
rights which would mandate that with increased alcohol/marijuana production and
distribution spaces, physical space for protective factors and prosocial opportunities for
youth would need to increase at the same rate.
Social communications strategy update
Adhoc committee (Denise, Lindsay, Greg, Chris) are working on strategy for this social
communications plan before 2021-2022 implementation and collaboration with The
Production Alliance for content development
