We should hear by June 10th if we are moving forward in the process. This would create a coalition like the PT ETC in the Quilcene school district, including 1 FTE Coalition Coordinator and 1 FTE Student Assistance Professional (drug prevention counseling).  Vaping Prevention Education in Quilcene, Grades 8,9,10,11 happened today May 25. Alexis, Denise and Lindsay presented about media literacy, the science of addiction, and vape products/lung health, with lots of engagement and positive small discussion. Will present again on 5/27 in Quilcene and on 5/28 in Brinnon.  This past weekend PT Schools had prom and outdoor activities for students, this was a great pro-social activity and increased positive social norms for young people.  Lindsay drafted a flyer for safe drug disposal in Jefferson County and will add the PTPD drop- off box and then send out the flyer for distribution. Other updates  Hidden in Plain Sight in the PT School District: 20 parents attended (out of 60 slots) this training educates parents about how to identify signs of youth drug use, trafficking, and mental health issues. A High in Plain sight training may be happening soon.  Tanya shared that there are lots of summer jobs at the YMCA in Jefferson County! 4:00 Action plan What were people’s takeaways or ’zingers’ from the data? Key takeaways: 1. Discussed how racial equity/justice and inclusion is happening at the county level, and how some of the responses indicate there may be a disconnect between the way the sheriff’s department is perceived and the way it perceives its steps towards racial justice reform. Discussed how to participate with Sheriff Nole and maybe get more diversity on the Sheriff’s advisory committee or introduce a DEI training. Will look into adding a cultural competency training into the budget. 2. High concern about suicidality in PT School district as compared to the state. Discussed how to do the evidence based Positive Action program and Youth Mental Health First Aid trainings in PT schools through MCS counseling. Lindsay will consult with Denise to extend the plan for Chimacum into PT. 3. Discussed how to add SAP funding for PTHS through Mental Health promotion grants. Lindsay will keep an eye out for these type of RFAs. Discussed how to hold meetings through the summer, decided to host one last meeting on June 22 where Lindsay will present a draft action plan, and then take July and August off and reconvene in September. 4:35 Closed meeting Next meeting: Tuesday June 22nd 3:30-4:30pm- Action planning for 2021-2022 Lindsay Scalf Pronouns: she/her Community Prevention and Wellness Initiative Coordinator Jefferson County Public Health
