HomeMy WebLinkAbout20211026_PT ETC Meeting Minutes Port Townsend Empowered Teens Coalition Meeting Minutes October 26, 2021 3:30-4:30pm Zoom Meeting Purpose of meeting: Coalition Assessment Tool, Good Behavior Game policy presentation Facilitator for this meeting: Lindsay Scalf In Attendance: Sector Representative Youth Parents Kelly Grace Businesses Media Law enforcement Religious or fraternal organizations Schools Holly McIlvaine Brett Navin Eliza Farrell Civic/Volunteer groups LoLo Sherwood Organizations serving youth Denise Banker Holly Gumm Laura Tucker Healthcare Professionals Susan O’Brien State, local, or tribal governmental agencies Greg Brotherton Other organizations involved in reducing substance use Donette Boyett Dana Milagrosa Time Activity 3:30 Call meeting to order Greg moved to accept the minutes from September, Denise seconded, all in favor Denise moved to accept the agenda for October, Greg seconded, all in favor Did introductions of all those present 3:35 Program updates • Drug Take Back, Port Townsend event collected 93 lbs of unused prescription medications for disposal • Guiding Good Choices, we have 11 families total signed up for Monday and Tuesday series’ • Community survey- 143 surveys collected so far for the Port Townsend link, we will need to get to 180 by December 15, 2021 • Lindsay showed the image in the PTSD Calendar with the Positive Social Norms message sponsored by the Empowered Teens Coalition • Denise discussed the staffing change with the Chimacum Empowered Teens Coalition. She has been promoted to Community Health Director, hiring is in progress to replace her role as coordinator • Laura Tucker described salmon in the classroom events happening in the last week of October • Holly described Red Ribbon Week, and explained Social Emotional Learning is happening once a week with prevention education Discussed increase in bullying and disciplinary incidents at Port Townsend Schools since the beginning of the school year Discussed how to advocate for removing phones from school Discussed how to involve more community members, parents, through a forum Lindsay will follow up with Greg, Holly Gumm and Holly McIlvaine, Denise, Laura, and Dana about advocating for a school board level policy regarding cellphones in schools 4:20 Coalition Assessment Tool Lindsay will send the pdf out via email, coalition members download it and fill it out, and send to hgumm@co.jefferson.wa.us We’ll review at the next meeting 4:20 PAX Good Behavior Game Denise presented about the Good Behavior Game policy work she is conducting with her intern from Oregon State University 4:35 Closed meeting Next meeting: Tuesday November 23rd 3:30-4:30pm Lindsay Scalf Pronouns: she/her Community Prevention and Wellness Initiative Coordinator Jefferson County Public Health
