In the Matter of Support for
Senate Joint Resolution 8212

RESOLUTION NO. 15-00
WHEREAS, Senate Joint Resolution 8212 has passed the Washington Sate Senate by a vote
of 43 to 5 indicating bipartisan support; and,
WHEREAS, SJR 8212 provides up to $200.00 off the State Levy for every permanent
residence in the State of Washington, without any tax shift to other properties; and,
WHEREAS, numerous property owners have received partial or total exemption or current
use assessments resulting in ever increasing tax burdens to homeowners; and,
WHEREAS, it is our belief that representative government can and should lead the way in
providing meaningfu110ng-term property tax relief; and,
WHEREAS, if approved by the Washington State House of Representatives by a two third
(2/3) majority, SJR 8212 will be placed before the voters of our State at this year's November general
election for their consideration.
NOw, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOL VED, that the Board of Jefferson County Commissioners
hereby declare our full support and endorsement of SJR 8212.
BE IT FURTHER RESOL VED, that we strongly encourage our local representatives, in full
knowledge of their very busy schedules, to work for the passage of SIR 8212.
BE IT FINALLY RESOL VED, that we are ever hopeful that a bipartisan effort on behalf of
homeowners will take place throughout the entire legislature as measured by their actions in regard to the
fate of SJR 8212.
