In the Matter of Authorizing an Election}
to Establish the Port Ludlow Drainage}
District and Setting an Election Date }
RESOLUTION NO. 48-00
WHEREAS, the Jefferson County Board of Commissioners received a petition
from property owners in Port Ludlow proposing to establish the Port Ludlow Drainage District
pursuant to the requirements of the Revised Code of Washington (RCW) Title 85; and
,WHEREAS, the Jefferson County Engineer has investigated the proposed district
boundaries and the feasibility of proposed projects and reported to the Jefferson County Board of
Commissioners; and
WHEREAS, the Jefferson County Board of Commissioners held a public hearing
on May 16,2000 to take testimony regarding the establishment of the Port Ludlow Drainage
District; and
WHEREAS, based on the testimony at the hearing, the Jefferson County Board of
Commissioners finds that creation of the District will be conducive to the public health, safety,
and convenience; will be of special benefit to the majority ofland within the District; and the
proposed improvements are feasible and economical and the benefits exceed the costs; and
WHEREAS, RCW 85.38.060 specifies that elections to establish drainage
districts shall be held on one ofthe dates provided for in RCW 29.13.030; and
WHEREAS, the next election date specified in RCW 29.13.030 is the primary
election on the third Tuesday in September which is September 19, 2000;
NOw, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Jefferson County Board of
Commissioners authorizes the Jefferson County Auditor to conduct an election on September 19,
2000 on the proposal to establish the Port Ludlow Drainage District.
