Chimacum Creek Beach Park. }
A resolution authorizing application to the Washington State Department of Natural Resources for an
Aquatic Lands Enhancement Account (ALEA) project grant, as defined in RCW 79.24.580, to assist in
funding the acquisition of waterfront property and tidelands commonly known as the "Cotton Log
Dump," located adjacent to and south of the mouth of Chimacum Creek, in the Ironda1e community,
Jefferson County.
WHEREAS, the Jefferson County Board of County Commissioners has adopted a Comprehensive Plan
that includes the area of this project; and
WHEREAS, Interagency Committee on Outdoor Recreation (lAC) funding assistance has been requested
to aid in financing the cost of acquisition ofthe subject property; and
WHEREAS, funds available from the lAC grant must be matched by funds ftom non-lAC sources, and
whereas funds available from the lAC grant are not sufficient to purchase the subject property;
WHEREAS, under the provisions of Chapter 79.24.580, RCW, state funding assistance has been
authorized and made available to aid in the financing the cost of land and the construction of facilities for
public access to, and enhancement of publicly-owned aquatic lands; and
WHEREAS, Jefferson County Board of County Commissioners considers it in the best public interest to
accomplish the acquisition of "Cotton Log Dump," generally located in the community of Ironda1e, in
Section 35, Township 30N, Range 1 W;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that:
1. The Director of Public Works be authorized to make formal application to the Department of
Natural Resources for funding assistance;
2. Any fund assistance received be used for implementation ofthe project referenced above;
3. Jefferson County hereby certifies that its share ofproject funding is committed and will be derived
from Interagency Committee on Outdoor Recreation, Washington Wildlife and Recreation
Program grant funds (pending);
4. Any property acquired with financial aid through the Aquatic Lands Enhancement Account be
maintained for the purposes of habitat protection and/or public access, in perpetuity and in

accordance with the terms of the Grant Agreement approved by the Department of Natural
Resources;
5. Any developed facilities financed through the Aquatic Lands Enhancement Account be
maintained by the County for a period of 25 years or longer;
6. This resolution becomes part of a formal application to Department of Natural Resources; and that
7. We provided appropriate opportunity for public comment on this application.
