RE:
County Engineer's Report: 1 sl Street and South Maple Street County Road
construction
The referenced roads are within the Plat ofIrondale Heights. 1 sl Street is also within the existing
Plat of Phillips Addition to Irondale. South Maple Street is also within the Plats of Phillips Addition
to lrondale and South Port Townsend.
The developer of lrondale Heights has constructed 15t Street from Cedar Avenue to its intersection
with Maple Street, a distance of approximately 1,000 feet. South Maple Street is already on the
County Road Log from Irondale Road to its intersection with 151 Street. The developer has
improved South Maple Street from 2nd Street to 1 sl Street, a distance of approximately 260 feet.
Both roadways have a 22 feet wide asphalt surface.
The Department of Public Works reviewed and approved the road construction and stormwater
management plans. The roads were designed in accordance with the requirements of the
Department's adopted standards, the Policy on Geometric Design of the American Association of
State Highway and Transportation Officials. The stormwater management plan is consistent with
the standards of the Washington Department of Ecology Stormwater Management Manual for the
Puget Sound Basin. The Department of Public Works inspected construction. The materials used in
construction conform to the Standard Specifications of the Washington Department of
Transportation. The roads were constructed in accordance with the approved plans.
Dedication of these roads would extend the existing County Road system in the area and provide
improved circulation.
ill consideration of the above, I recommend that the Board of County Commissioners accept the
dedication of 1 st Street as a County Road and approve the resolution adding it to the County Road
Log.
