In the Matter of Establishing a
Floating Holiday in Exchange for
Martin Luther Kings, Jr.'s Birthday for
Non-represented Positions In the
Sheriff's Department
RESOLUTION NO 53-99
WHEREAS, non-represented personnel are subject to the provisions of
the Jefferson County Personnel Policy, and; and,
WHEREAS, said policy provides County recognized holidays, including
Martin Luther King Jr.'s Birthday, celebrated the 3rd Monday in January; and,
WHEREAS, the Sheriff's Department labor agreement with Teamster
Local #589 does not recognize Martin Luther King ]r.'s birthday on the day
designated as a County holiday. The bargaining unit exchanged the 3rd Monday of
January for an additional floating holiday; and,
WHEREAS, to maintain continuity in managing the department it is
desirous for non-represented and represented personnel to have the same holiday
schedule; and,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of County
Commissioners that non-represented personnel in the Sheriff's Department shall
have the same holiday schedule as bargaining unit personnel in that Department,
with the exception of personnel whose duty station is the Jefferson County
Courthouse.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this policy shall become effective
beginning January 1, 1999.
