In the Matter of Establishmg A New Fund
Entitled the Marine Resource Committee
RESOLUTION NO ----.l2-99
WHEREAS, Jefferson County recognizes that the marine waters of the County
represent an unparalleled resource of enormous environmental and economic value to the people of
the region now and for future generations; and,
WHEREAS, Jefferson County established the Jefferson County Marine Resources
Committee by passage of Resolution No. 45-99 on June 7, 1999 whose mission is to address local
marine issues, recommend remedial actions to local authorities, build local awareness of the issues
and support for remedies; and,
WHEREAS, the Northwest Straits Commission will provide financial assistance and
technical expertise to participating local governments to use for planning, revision of City and
County ordinances if necessary and scientific study.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of County Commissioners that
the Marine Resource Committee Fund Account Number 001-0660-000 is hereby established with
mitial monies to come from a $10,000 grant from the Northwest Straits Commission.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that expenditures from the Marine Resource Committee
Fund may be for any purpose as allowed by law and/ or the grant, upon the Board of
Commissioners establishing a budget for the fund.
