WHEREAS, the Jefferson County Public Works, Solid Waste Division has operated self-haul
drop box sites for solid waste disposal at locations in the communities of Coyle, Brinnon and
Port Hadlock until September, 1997 when these sites were temporarily closed; and
WHEREAS, the Jefferson County Public Works, Solid Waste Division is currently operating a
self-haul drop box site for solid waste disposal at a location in the community of Clearwater; and
WHEREAS, by statute, RCW 36.58.030 "Transfer station" defined, Jefferson County is required
to charge a tipping fee that shall cover the cost of providing and for use of the service; and
WHEREAS, the Jefferson County Public Works, Solid Waste Division has detennined that the
projected fees required to operate the drop box sites in year 2000 to meet the requirements of
RCW 36.58.030 are $23.97 per can for the Coyle site, $11.48 per can for the Brinnon site, $9.42
per can for the Hadlock site, and $38.52 per can for the Clearwater site, and
WHEREAS, following a Public Hearing on November 1, 1999 the Jefferson Board of County
Commissioners on November 8, 1999 approved the pennanent closure of these four sites.
IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, that the drop box sites located in the communities of
Coyle, Brinnon, Port Hadlock and Clearwater shall be pennanently closed until otherwise altered
by resolution, and that the effective permanent closure date shall be December 6, 1999.
