Jefferson County recently adopted updated Commissioner district boundaries. Redrawing Voting precincts is the final step in the process. A Virtual Public Hearing to review precinct boundary options will held Monday, March 7, 2022 at 10:45 a.m. At their regular Monday meeting on March 21, 2022, Commissioners will adopt revised precinct boundaries based on public input received to date. ANALYSIS: The Jefferson County Board of Commissioners took public input in 2021 and adopted updated Commissioner District boundaries in late 2021. Since then, the Jefferson County Auditor and GIS lead has been working to redraw precincts within the new Commissioner district boundaries. These draft precincts were developed with the intent to: • Have an equal number of precincts in each commissioner district. • Strive for an equal number of voters in each precinct. • Keep communities of interest (such as fire districts, and school districts) together. In some cases, it wasn't possible to meet all three of these objectives in a precinct. With this HEARING we seek public input on the proposed precinct boundaries and may make modifications based on input received.
