I understand the expense of personal protective equipment can add up as the pandemic stretches into its third year. As of today, the following locations can provide you with free N-95 (Not KN-95) masks upon request: • Port Hadlock Library• QFC in Port Hadlock or Port Townsend• Safeway in Port Townsend• Tri-Area Food Bank in Chimacum …as well as some additional businesses that are members of the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce. You may call them for more information at: (360) 385-7869. Those masks are provided by the Jefferson County Department of Emergency Management. When N-95 or K-95 masks are not available, a well-fitting cloth mask or surgical mask will still offer you protection, especially when you combine that safety measure with other basic precautions. Free surgical and cloth masks are still available here at the Jefferson County Public Health office, which is next to the entrance to QFC in Port Townsend. There is a chance a limited supply of more masks, including KN-95 masks, may be available in the near future. Please stay tuned to our social media pages, if your Internet connection allows. Or give our front desk a ring next week at 360-385-9400. Do not open attachments or click on links if you are not expecting them. Greetings and thank you for your ceaseless support of the community health through transparency and access to information and safety. I have been a constant listener through the past years of the efforts in conjunction with kptz. on Mondays. I may have missed the announcement but do not have easy access to relisten to entire meeting broadcast archives. My hope is you might clarify access and distribution sites in the city limits. I do not have financial resources to have computer access at home, therefore can not order online and spend hours trying to determine which masks ate counterfeit. My main question today has to do with accessing kn95 masks that are being distributed. I understand the out of port townsend access at qfc in hadlock and the jefferson county library and how swiftly these masks have been picked up. I have a need for these masks as I anticipate some appointments and 2 monthly grocery store visits per month. I did not hear any port townsend access points mentioned and understand the need to prioritize for workers. Quite seriously, for those of us who have comorbidities and who have limited resources. We Have spent hundreds of dollars on hand santization, Masks etc when we can find them for sale during shortages and now less access to cloth masks with the nose wire to utilize surgical masking underneath cloth. ( cloth masks do wear out after 2+ years and bless the work of volunteer mask makers!) I am concerned not just for myself but for others who also have need to upgrade masks especially when need arises to mingle with mixed vax population out of necessity. Thank you Joan in port townsend
