Brown present and Commissioner A.M.O'Meara absent due to the death of his father.

Paint & Glass Co. Inc.; for Cleaning and Painting of Portage Canal Bridge No. 4/157 from
We Painters , Inc.; and Repair of Queets River Bridge No. 206/060 from Alaska Pacific Erectors ,
Inc. .
Bid Opening: One Goosemeck Tilt Bed Trailer - no bids received.
Mr. Robert Bundy appeared re: Clearing of ditch on West Valley Road. Requests assistance
from County Road Dept. Board will check ditch at lunch time today and advise Mr. Bundy.
Mr. Gust Norquist and Mrs Ruth Pope appeared re: Access road through Earl Ward' s property
in Quil.cene . Engineer Becker advised that Board should investigate the road thoroughly before
making a decision. Board will check road at lunch time today.
Mr. Tex Lockridge appeared to request county to distroy a thistle patch in the north-east
corner of V.F.W. porperty in Quilcene . Board will check at lunch time today and advise .
Board signed Contract with McClanahan Const. Co. for the repair of Shine Boat Ramp.
Board approved and signed April bills to be paid in May, as follows:

ditures for calendar year 1972 . Copy will be sent to Dr. Shirley Benham, Jr. ,M.D. ,M.P.H. ,

Mr. John Greer, Executice Director of Pariad, a non-profit community service corporation,
appeared to advise Board of their services to 5th. and 6th. Class Counties in the preparation
of grants , loans , contracts , planning and research. Their fee is $900 a month plus expenses .
Petition for County Road Vacation in Plat of Irondale from Douglas T. Brown and Douglas G.
Brown. Hearing date set for May 2 9th.
Letter from Jack W.C . Heath regarding 30' of county owned property on Marrowstone Isl.
Requests vacation of property. Petition forms will be sent.
Letter from Kramer, Chin & Mayo, Inc. pertaining to an Environmental Impact Statement for
County Solid Waste Management Plan. Engineer Becker advised that Impact Statement has
already been received by the Dept. of Ecology.
The Board signed a letter to William H. Peckham, ACSW Program Coordinator, Drug Abuse
Program, releasing the unexpended portion ($933 .00) of the county's 1973 Drug Abuse State
Grant. Funds are to be reverted to the state for use in other counties which are in need of
added funding .
Letter from the Dept. of Social & Health Services re: Funding levels for Jefferson County's
MH and Drug Abuse Programs . Copies will be given to the Auditor and the Coordinator of the
Mental Health Board.
Board received Supplemental 1973 Budget for Treasurers Operation and Maintenance Fund
submitted by Treasurer, Lillian Jacobsen.

of gravel; and (3) Gravel Permit No. 2706 extended to March 24 , 1978 and price adjusted
to $. 15 per cubic yard.
