Meeting called to order by, acting chairman, A.M . O'Meara . Walt Kelly abs e .t d to illness . Norris Short appeared- to read a letter from the Planning Commission regarding the re- solution passed to create a Planning Department. He talked about enforcing zoning laws and felt this would be up to the commissioners to decide who would enforce thesE laws . Mr. Choat of Pleasant Tides asked what happened when someone comes in to record a land purchase when the Plat was found to be unrecorded. Discussed this with the commissioners , who agree that the buyer _is somewhat unprotected in this case. Commissioners signed Resolution 36-73_ County Road Project 363 to repair, clean and paint Queets River Bridge . Ed Becker inquired about road paving bond at Pleasant Tides . Commissioners agreed there should be a letter sent stating last date for completion of this obligation before foreclosure . Motion by Brown, second by O'Meara to send letter to United Pacific Insurance Company setting September 15 , 1973 as last date for completion. The Board of Commissioners reviewed the prospective resolution touching upon dist- ribution of Revenue Sharing Funds and the board, having examined same,determined that referred subject matter is non-debatable in character as an emergency ordinance . Motion to adopt Resolution 35-73 "Adopting Emergency Budget for Current Expense Fund" by Brown, second by O'Meara . Mrs . Pat Guthrie appeared asking about permit to pick cedar bows along county roads . She was told to contact Department of Natural Resources for the proper per- mit form, which would then be signed by Ed Becker. A call for bids was approved for September 4, 1973 for paving of County Roads, #4 , #10 and #38 in portion. Signed by Commissioners . Minutes of August 13, 1973 were approved with addition. A request for variance was approved for H.D. Cameron, Port Ludlow. Motion by Brown, second by O'Meara. A petition from the Coyle Community Club was reviewed by commissioners . Signatures have been certified by assessor's office and hearing date set for September 10, 1973 . Sheriff Hansen is due to meet in Tacoma along with the chairman to sign the Mutual Aid Agreement. Since Walt Kelly is ill he will check to see if forms can be mailed here for signatures . If not,. either Brown or O'Meara will go with him on Wednesday, August 22 , 1973 . Page Two August 20 , 1973 Minutes Betty Temple talked with Commissioners about a report on personnel practices , put out by LGPI. She would like to have a survey done on Jefferson County. A request would have to be made by the commissioners . Jack Perkins appeared to ask for a meeting with city and county officials re Solid Waste Management. Meeting was set for 8-22-73 at 7 p.m. in the Commissioner's Room.
