10:00a .m. Meeting called to order by Chairman A.M.O'Meara with all members present.
Opening of Bids for Mock Creek Bridges':

Motion by Commissioner Huntingford, second by Commissioner Kelly for Engineer Becker
to check two low bid . Becker returned to advise that Owen's Bros . bid was correct and in
order. Motion by Commissioner Huntingford , second by Commissioner Kelly to award bid
to Owen's Bros . Inc.' for $4p,357 .50. Tihanimous by Board. Becker will inform of accept-
ance .
Board approved and signed August bills td be paid in September, as follows:
Mr. Lloyd Logue appeared re: His property at Becket Point. Wants approval of variance
for septic tank. Board will check with Randall Durant, District Sanitarian.
Hearing for Shoreline Management Permit for Port of Port Townsend for construction of 830'
rock bulkhead located at Port Townsend Boat Haven. Motion by Commissioner Huntingford,
second by Commissioner Kelly to approve . Unanimous by Board .
Eva Taylor, Chairman, Jefferson County Planning Commission appeared re: Trail Survey;
Camper Club Ordinance; Zoning; ATV vehicles Stated the public wants a way to get to
the trails . Mr. Ernie Giesler, Engineer, County Road Administration, advised that state
is having problems with combinations of horse and bile trails . Bike trails have to be graded
and paved a7 d horses need just a dirt trail. Commissioner Huntingford stated possibly the
boys working in the Juvenile Work Program could slash trails along some of the county roads
for horses . Engineer Becker informed that trails could be included with any new roads, but
extra property would have to be acquired and it would have to be included in the plans and
maps . Becker will assist in 'mapping out trails for horsemen with their committee .
Chairman O'Meara advised they are working on the Camper Club Ordinance and the
Planning Commission should get started on zoning as Soon as possible .
Motion by Commissioner Kelly, second by Commissioner Huntingford to approve and sign
Resolution No. 35-72 , adopting alternate date for Budget Hearing . Unanimous by Board
Resolution as follows:
Mr. Melvin Kivley appeared :e: His plat at Hadlock. Final has never been presented for
approval. Board advised of number of lots that could be sold without being penalized.
Board members signed certified letter to the Governor stating they are unable to come to
agreement on appointment for County Assessor to replace retired Jim Sofie , Request that
appointment be made by the Governor.
Notice from Dept. of Agriculture of $865 ,201'',66 awarded to Jefferson County from Forest
Funds for 1973 .
Board reviewed the folowing correspondence without comment:
Notice from the Dept. of Interior rip: Initial Classification decision. Lots 12 &
13 , Sec. 28, T. 30N. , R. 1W, classified for disposal from federal ownership by state
selection. ,
