February 22 , 1972
10:00a.m. Meeting called to order by Chaitman A.M.O'Meara with all members present.
Motion by Commissioner kelly to approve Minutes as presented. Seconded by Commissioner •
Huntingford. Unanimous by Board.
Board received proposals forbid for conducting Inventory .for Shoreline Management Act of 1971 ,
tom Jesse Allen, Richard Wojt and Fred Garber. Proposals will be reviewed by the Board for '
action on February 28th.

Mr. Morris Such appeared to register complaint against his property taxes . Stated the valuation
placed on his home is satisfactory, but feels the valuation of the property is far too excessive
due to large area of swamp land. He was advised to discuss the matter with Assessor, Jim
Sofie, and to come before the Board of Equalization, this summer, for 1973..
Motion by. Commissioner Huntingford, second by Commissioner Kelly to accept proposal for
Solid Waste Management Survey from Kramer, Chin and Mayo. Fees will not be in excess of
$7,5 00 without authorization by the County.
Letter of request for use of Memorial Field during the week of May 15th., by Chairman of the
Rhododendron Festival. Motion by Commissioner Kelly, second by Commissioner Huntingford to
grant permission. Unanimous by Board.
Board received letter from Hill, Ingman,Chase & Co. concerning the possibility of obtaining addit-
ional monies for solid waste:management planning . ,They'will be.nct ified of the Boards decision
• not to pursue this program at the present time, and of the contract signed with Kramer,. Chin & 1
Mayo.

Engineer Becker requested information on the pruchasing of a gravel pit by the county, from
State Auditor, Earl Abbott. . Mr. Abbott placed a phone call to the main office in Olympia and
received sanction for the purchase, and was advised it will not be necessary for the-county to. •
call for bids .•
Auditor, Betty Temple informed the Board that according to the State Auditor's figures , it,cost the
schools in Jefferson County $1 million more to operate than all of the functions of the county,
including the Fire and Water Districts , P.UD, etc. combined.
Assessor, Jim Sofie appeared to inform that as of March 1 , 1972, Lloyd Hansen will be 1st. Deputy
of the Assessor's Office . An adjustment will be made in his salary to compensate the raise in
position.
Board received letter from Senator Gordon Sandison concerning the efforts of the Brinnon Booster.
• Club to secure federal funding assistance for an ambulance Advised that funds had been ex-
hausted for the current fiscal year, but that they should submit a new application by March of 1972
Letter will be sent to the Club advising of this information.

Board received copy of letter to Mr. Clint Hergert (Bridgehaven) re: Army Corps of Engineers
Public Notice No. NPS-72-21 , dated February 3rd. Stated approval of dredging will be withheld
until a valid Shoreline Management Permit is received, or jka written statement from the
county stating a permit is not required.

Copy of letter from George Randolph, Port Manager, to Bob Hays , Chairman, Shoreland Advisory
Commission, submitting three applications for development permit. Mr. Randolph will be advised
that applications are to be submitted to the Board of County Commissioners.

Report from the State Parks & Recreation Commission entitled "Fort Worden State Park
Conference Center."
Letter from John W. Maher, Area Manager, Pope & Talbot Development , Inc. .,.at Port Ludlow,
concerning their two applications for Shoreline Management Permits and requesting a meeting at
a later date to discuss their proposed future projects .
County trust land transmittal of funds , $37.41 , as County's share of money received from
Berenice E . Martin.
Clallam County Library Annual Report for 1971 .
Department of Revenue, Revised values adopted for Forest Land Taxation.
Minutes from Intermediate School District No. 114 , Board of Directors meeting of February
10, 1972 .
There being no further business before the Board, the meeting was adjourned.
