Brown • MINUTES March 20, 1972 10:00 a.m. Meeting called to order by Chairman A.M.O'Meara with Commissioner George • Huntingford present and Commissioner Walter A. Kelly absent. Motion-by Commissioner Huntingford, 2nd by Ohairman O'-Meara.to approve minutes as pre- sented. Attny. Glen Abraham appeared re: Vacation of "Moen" Road. Question as to whether road can be legally vacated due to property leading to the water, but there is approximately 150' of bluff to tidelands . Letter will be written to the Dept. of Ecology requesting their opinion. Hearing for Shoreline Management Permits from: 1) Dept. of Natural Resources (Application # 10) to construct 2nd bridge over Winfield Creek, Queets. Motion by Commissioner Huntingford, 2nd by Chairman O'Meara to approve and sign. 2) Mayr Bros . Logging Co. Inc. (Application # 11) to construct a bridge over Matheny Creek, Queets . Motion by Commissioner Huntingford, 2nd by Chairman O'Meara to approve and sign. Engineer Becker informed the Board there is a need to apply for 1 year's advance for Federal F.A.S . Funds , for County Road Dept. Motion by Commissioner Huntingford, 2nd by Chair- man O'Meara for Engineer Becker to submit request. Request will be submitted to the County Commissioner's Association which in turn will submit a request to the State Highway Corn- mission. Letter and Resolution will be sent to Washington State Association of Counties by Engineer Becker for their approval and adoption. • Engineer Becker requested a new hearing be scheduled for Log Cabin Inn tracts owned by Grady and Almasi. Motion by Commissioner Huntingford, 2nd by Chairman O'Meara to set hearing date for April 10th at 11:00 a.m. Board received letter of Agreement between Jefferson County and the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission re: Summer Youth Work Programs . Agreement signed by Chairman O'Meara and Commissioner Huntingford agreeing that Jefferson County will pay the State of Washington Parks and Recreation Commission $6,580. to operate a 10-boy work crew for a period of eight weeks . Auditor Betty Temple signed Agreement for Commissioner Walter A. Kelly'. • Request for building permit•extension from Herbert T. Beck. It is the Board's decision that since Mr. Beck has started construction and only needs to complete building, an extension is not required. Letter of request for improvement of boat launch ramp at Shine from Mr. & Mrs. George Hubbard. Board received Summons on Cross Claim; Daniel R. McBride and Barbara McBride, et al, Plaintiff vs. Gary D. Jensen, et.ux, George Olson, et ux and Jefferson County, Defendant. Copy will be given to Pros . Attny. Daly, and mailed to Joe Welch Ins . • Letter from Mr. & Mrs . Glen Mason re: Range laws in the West-end of Jefferson County. Another letter will be written to the Mason's again telling them of the Board's decision not to change the open range law at this time. Board received the following without comment: • Liquor license, Class CD No. 358333 , for Melvin Frank Thompson d/b/a Half-way House Restaurant. Copy of letter to Victor C . Oblas from Corps of, Engineers withdrawing application from Ocean System for their iroposed project in Port Townsend Bay near Crane Point. Copy of letter to Paul Miller, Chairman, Jefferson County Council on Alcoholism, from E .A. Kenealy, Supervisor, Alcoholism Section, Olympia Re: Funding. Minu,es of jvlarch 20th Meeting, Continued. County trust land transmittal of funds, $2 ,046 . 75 from Hermann Bros . for removal of timber. Unpublished statistics from the 1970 census . Mr. Ken Loftus appeared re: County property at Glen Cove . Mr. Loftus expressed the desire to purchase this property from the County. Property described as tax title property, 30 - 30 - 1 W. Tax lot # 30. Mr. Loftus owns tax lot # 28 across the county road. He was advised by the Board that property will have to be put up for bids . Engineer Becker stated he could not foresee any future use of the property by the County and the Board concurs. Mr. Loftus acquired a Petition for Order of Sale from the Treasurers Office and Chairman O'Meara signed for the Bca rd. Mr. Loftus was advised to pay 10% of the guaranteed bid price ($25 .00) to the Jefferson County Auditor. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
