March 6 , 1972
10:00a .m. Meeting called to order by Chairman A.M.O'Meara with all members present .
Motion by Commissioner Hunting ford, second by Commissioner Kelly to approve minutes of
February 28th. meeting .
Mr. Horace Gleason presented proposal for Shoreline Management Survey. Engineer Becker
iinformed Board of Mr. Gleason's qualifications . Mr. and Mrs . Richard Wojt were present
and voiced complaint against Mr. Gleason's proposal being accepted at this late date . It
was explained that sealed bids were not called for and therefore Mr. Gleason's proposal
could not be considered late. Motion by Commissioner Huntingford, second by Commissioner
Kelly to accept bid from Horace Gleason due to low bid proposal and knowledge of the entire
county. Unanimous by Board .
Letter from Mayor of Port Townsend stating the county is to transfer lighting fixtures previously
discussed to the City Hall. Board will check with costudian. No objections by the Board at s
this time .
Auditor, Betty Temple, presented letter concerning Colonial Life Ins .Co. Letter grants approval
for insurance representatives to speak to county employees . Board unanimously approved letter.
Mrs . Temple also presented Notice from Washington Public Employees° Retirement System re:
Changes in retirement benefits .
Engineer Becker presented maps and letter from Craigen & Rank Co. for proposed cover for
Memorial Field Stadium. Chairman O'Meara contacted firm by phone and was informed all
pertinent information will be available by March 13th. �•
Becker also discussed proposed floats for Lake Leland. Estimated cost will be $.6 to $7 per sq.
ft. (6x8x26" deep) installed.
Mr. Smithy F. Bedell appeared to present Board with prelimanary plans for a Trailor Park on •
Marrowstone Island . No water or perk tests taken at this time . Spaces in park will be rented,
not sold. He was advised to contact and work with the Health Dept. for all sanitary facifitie'.
No objections by Board as long as park complies with all regulations and specifications of the
Health Dept..
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Mann appeared re: Application for Soldiers' & Sailors' Relief Fund. Chair-
man O'Meara advised them he would check with the Dept. of Public Assistance and notify of
their decision next Monday.
Letter from Calmar A. McCune requesting re-appointment of the following for the Mental Health/
Mental Retardation Board: A.M.O'Meara, Dr. William J. Scheyer, Calmar A. McCune, Robert
Johnson and Phyllis Bee . New members recommended were: Father Walter Truitt, Mr. Jack V.
Brown and Marjory Johnson. Motion by Commissioner Kelly, second by Commissioner Hunting-
ford to make appointments and re-appointments as: recommended. Unanimous by Board. Fifteenth
position will be filled at later date .
Board reviewed the following without comment:
Notice from Dept. of Ecology stating forty-five day review period for Pope & Talbot Shoreline
Management Permit terminated on March 5 , 1972.
Copy of letter to Will Gariss , Executive Director, Clallam-Jefferson County Community
Action Council, from Program Manager, Dept. of Housing and Urban Development re: Claims
of unresponsiven ess of HUD to the problems of Clallam-Jefferson County area .

Newsletter consisting of information on Dept. of Transportation programs and policies.
There being no further business before the Board, the meeting was adjourned.
