Subject: JCPRAB Park Maintenance Volunteer Projects
Dear Members of the Jefferson County Parks and Recreation Advisory Board,
Here is a list of possible park maintenance projects for the advisory board to consider.
While your board has taken undertaken numerous projects, volunteer maintenance is not an
expectation of board membership.
Projects
Minor wall repairs and paint the walls of the East Beach Park Shelter
Minor exterior siding repair and paint the exterior of the Memorial Field Maintenance Shed
Paint the hand rails of the grandstand at Memorial Field.
Update the signs in the main information kiosk at HJ Carroll Park.
Pressure wash the basketball court at HJ Carroll Park
Restore areas of erosion on the slope below the trail leading to Chimacum Creek at HJ Carroll
Park by planting native plants and installing a barrier or signage to reduce further damage.
Weeding basically anywhere. Let me know if you like to pull weeds!
Anything at Irondale Beach Park. This is a great place to concentrate your efforts.
o It is in need because it has no professional maintenance
o It is easy because there is little need to coordinate with maintenance staff
o Projects include
Continued landscape maintenance
Trail signage
Continued habitat restoration
Improve existing trails
Replace entry gate with bollards
Improve existing regulatory signs
Trail maintenance or construction at Gibbs Lake Park. Work with Quimper Trails to build trail or
maintain existing trail.
Restoration at Gibbs Lake Park – especially near where we removed the derelict building near
Beausite Lake Road. This could be a very rewarding project.
If you have a type of work you like to do, an area you want to work in, or a special project of any
type, please let me know.
Your board has achieved so much, keep up the great work!
Best, Matt
