I know there was that one day that it said 12 of the 18 cases being added were actually from other months (so I was only counting 6 from that day),but you're saying that in the last 2 weeks, most of the cases were actually from previous weeks, even if that wasn't mentioned? Were most of the 7 cases reported today from before March 3rd as well? Or are they brandnew today? Or do they belong in the previous two-week period? Also, today's report still says Feb24-Mar9 (the case rate changed today but the date range didn't move up a week). Thank you. You have a really hard job, and I really appreciate you.Darcy On Fri, Mar 18, 2022 at 4:01 PM Allison Berry <ABerry@co.jefferson.wa.us> wrote: Dear Darcy, Thank you so much for reaching out, and for your careful attention to detail. The good news is the numbers are accurate. Let me explain why. The case rate formula isbased on the date the positive individual is tested, not the date the case is reported. We build the formula this way to account for delays in reporting, which we had in the last 2 weeks.Because case numbers are going down, some of the cases that were caught in the state backlog were just now reported us weeks late, so they got added to our totals, but not to the2 week case rate (since they were tested more than 2 weeks ago). They do mean the old case rates were even a little higher than reported, but don’t change today’s rate. So the good news is we are truly in the low risk zone. We do still recommend masking forthose at high risk of severe disease until we get a little lower but we are moving in the right direction. Unfortunately COVID is not over as our friends in the UK are experiencing, andwe are likely to see that case rate rise again in the future. But for now, it is reasonable for most people to unmask in indoor non-healthcare settings. Based on the FB posts from Mar3-16, we have had 40 cases in the last 2 weeks, so we should be at a case rate of 120ish per 100,000, not the 71 reported. It's making it show up as Green (unmask)<https://jeffersoncountypublichealth.org/1466/Case-Information? fbclid=IwAR0lC19mjngMdz5Ma6coR5pYiZie1eeyOiKHsWhwEDF6s4ZL9eZ12BESjBg>instead of Orange (masking recommended)! It's also making it look like a test positivity rate of only 1.2% because it's only showing 3 positive tests from this week! And only 11 fromthe previous week. I know maybe I'm missing something here, but it seems like it's got to be a mistake. If so, please correct it ASAP before more people unmask. Thanks for all your hard work,Darcy Reeder
