In the Matter of Establishing the Elected
Position of District Court Judge in Jefferson
County as a Full Time Position
RESOLUTION NO 50-98
WHEREAS, RCW 3.58.010 provides that the annual salary of each full time District
Court Judge shall be established by the Washington Citizen's Commission on Salaries for Elected
Officials and,
WHEREAS, RCW 3,34.020 allows the County legislative authority to increase a part time
Judge to full time status, while RCW 3.34.040 provides that a District Court judge receiving a salary
equal to the maximum salary set by the salary commission under RCW 3.58.020 for District Court
judges shall be deemed full time judges and shall devote all of their time to the office and shall not
engage in the practice of law; and,
WHEREAS, the caseload ofthe District Court Judge for Jefferson County has increased to
the point that it is evident that this position needs to be increased to full time status,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of County Commissioners that
effective January 1, 1999, the position of District Court Judge for Jefferson County shall be established
as a full time position, with the salary set by the Washington Citizen's Commission on Salaries for
Elected Officials. .\
