No. t=LSA: t-JO 1.0 MAJOR FUNCTION AND PURPOSE 1.1 The purpose of this first level position is to undergo training of a routine nature in the field of engineering, and to assist in routine engineering tasks. 2.0 2.1 2.2 3.0 ~,' 3.1 4.0 4.1 SUPERVISION RECEIVED Receives complete direction, guidance and assistance from higher level Engineering Technicians. Occasional guidance and direction is received from higher level engineering staff. SUPERVISION EXERCISED This position is not expected to supervise personnel. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Performs non-technical survey functions, trains for all phases of field inspection and testing. Performs straightforward office work including elementary drafting and arithmetic computations. 5.0 DESIRABLE OUALIFICATIONS. KNOWLEDGE. SKILLS AND ABILITIES 5.1 Requires an interest in engineering to effectively learn the field. 5.2 Proficient COITllllUnication skills to understand instructions and act upon them ac- cordingly. Abilt'tv to contact supervisor for instruction and ask questi~ of concern as needed. '\ / I / 5.3 Skilled operation of hand tools, power saws, two way radio, hand calculator, copy machine and motor vehicles. 5.4 General knowledge of arithmetic, including algebra, trigonometry and geometry. 5.5 Determination to learn, follow through, and handle the technical nature of the en- gineering field. ~- 5.6 Ability to work effectively under close supervision with minimal independence. 5.7 Physically able to perform outdoors work in a dangerous environment, i.e. automobile traffic, heavy equipment, noise, quarry and pit sites, crushing, asphalt and concrete plants, forestry industry, ect. Capable of moderate physical effort to lift and carry equipment (35 lbs.) and run survey lines. 6.0 EDUCATION. EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATES 6.1 High school diploma or GED. 6.2 Ongoing on the job experience. 6.3 Valid Washington State drivers license.
