BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
WORKSHOP AGENDA REQUEST
TO: Board of County Commissioners
FROM: Mark McCauley, County Administrator
DATE: June 6, 2022
SUBJECT: Board of County Commissioners Workshop: Jeffcom 911
STATEMENT OF ISSUE:
Jeffcom 911 is the organization in Jefferson County that manages the 911 system for the county. They receive a
variety of calls from citizens, some of which require that staff dispatch fire, medical or law enforcement in
response. This is a crucial function in the county that helps save lives and property.
Jeffcom 911 is funded by its user agencies: Jefferson County, the City of Port Townsend and the county's five
fire districts. Jefferson County's user fees are substantial: $564,000 in 2022.
ANALYSIS:
Because of the importance of its mission, the substantial cost of user fees to the county and because only one
County Commissioner serves on its governing Board a workshop with the full Board of County Commissioners
will help inform the other two commissioners about Jeffcom. Stacie Huibregtse, Jeffcom Executive Director, will
present the workshop for Jeffcom.
FISCAL IMPACT:
None.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the Board conduct a workshop on Jeffcom 91 1.
