AU.. ~T4 ';1.-" -'1/1 STATE OF WASHINGTON County of Jefferson In the Matter of an Update to the County- wide Safety Manual Requiring Defensive Drivers Training for County Employees RESOLUTION NO 129-97 and, WHEREAS, Jefferson County has adopted a Loss Control Program and County-wide Safety manual; WHEREAS, said in Section III-2 of said manual, Fleet Accident Prevention is addressed; and, WHEREAS, Jefferson County's membership in the Washington Counties Risk Pool requires the County to maintain a automobile loss prevention program, including Defensive Drivers Training for employees driving on County business; and, WHEREAS, the County has established a drivers training program; and, NOw, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of County Commissioners that all employees who either drive a County vehicle, or are reimbursed for mileage for using their personal vehicle for County business, shall have completed and remain current with the standards of the County sponsored defensive drivers training course or can demonstrate completion of a equivalent drivers training. 1) BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that All new employees shall schedule and attend the first defensive drivers training course offered following their employment and in no case shall they be employed more than a year without obtaining said training. The employee will be reimbursed and or allowed to drive a County vehicle on a provisional basis until the next defensive drivers training is scheduled. All other employees who have failed to remain current (every three years) with this requirement will be notified that their privilege to use a County vehicle, or to be reimbursed for mileage expenses for using their private vehicle for County business, has been suspended until they have completed the required training.
