In the Matter of Rescinding Resolution
No. 29-86 Re-setting Maximum Dollar
Amounts for Soldiers' and Sailors' Relief
Fund Applications
RESOLUTION NO 130-97
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners passed Resolution No. 29-86 on
April 16, 1986 to re-set the maximum dollar amount that could be paid annually to an
indigent Veteran from the Veterans Relief Fund, formerly called the Soldiers' and Sailors'
Relief Fund; and,
WHEREAS, in April of 1996 the County entered into an agreement with the
Jefferson County Service Officers Association for administration and oversight of the
Veterans Relief Fund and the investigation and review of applications for Veterans Relief;
and,
WHEREAS, since the implementation of the application investigation and
review process by the Jefferson County Service Officers Association, includes criteria and
procedures that govern expenditures for individual Veterans from the Veterans Relief Fund,
the administration of this process has proved to be effective; and,
WHEREAS, it is no longer necessary to impose the restrictions identified in
Resolution No. 29-86; and,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of County Commissioners
that Resolution 29-86 is hereby rescinded.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that all requests for assistance from the Veterans
Relief Fund will be handled in accordance with the terms of the most recent version of the
agreement between the Jefferson County se~ 0. fficers Association and Jefferson County.
