IN THE MATTER OF ENCOURAGING }
AND SUPPORTING EMPLOYEES }
PARTICIPATION IN THE COMMUNITY }
BLOOD DRIVE }
RESOLUTION NO. 9-96
WHEREAS, there is a significant blood shortage, both nationally and regionally; and,
WHEREAS, this shortage has adversely affected the ability of those wishing to undertake
elective surgery and is becoming threatening to those undergoing non-elective and emergency
surgeries; and,
WHEREAS, employees and citizens of Jefferson County are equally subject to this critical
blood supply shortage; and,
WHEREAS, a community blood drive is scheduled at the American Legion Hall, from 12
p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, January 24, 1996.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Commissioners does hereby
recognize the critical nature of the areas blood supply; and does encourage all citizens and
employees of Jefferson County, who are willing and able, to give the "Oft of Life" by
participating in the community blood drive; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Jefferson County employees may participate in the
community blood drive, with department head concurrence, as part of their normal work day
without loss of time.
