Supporting a Partnership Between the Housing
Authority of Jefferson County and the Kitsap
County Consolidated Housing Authority to Bring
a Self Help Housing Program To Jefferson County
RESOLUTION NO. 115-96
WHEREAS, due to location and economic conditions found in Jefferson County,
there continues to be a sizeable gap between family income and housing affordability for many
County citizens; and,
WHE~AS, the Housing Authority of Jefferson County is constituted to address
the housing needs of the community, and specifically the housing needs of families with low
incomes; and,
WHEREAS, the Federal Government has a program by which eligible low income
families may participate in the construction of a new home, thereby reducing the mortgage
amount necessary, to an affordable level; and,
WHEREAS, the Kitsap County Consolidated Housing Authority has administered
this Self Help Housing Program in Kitsap and Mason Counties, serving over 500 low income
families; and,
WHEt~AS, The Kitsap County Consolidated Housing Authority has approached
the Housing Authority of Jefferson County to partner with them and bring this program to
Jefferson County.
NOW THEREFOR BE IT RESOLVED, that the Jefferson County Board of
Commissioner supports and encourage said partnership as a means to make home ownership a
reality for Jefferson County citizens who would otherwise be priced out of the housing market.
