Analysis/Strategic Goals/Pro's Et Con's: The Pit Scales used at the Jefferson County Transfer Station to weigh containers as they are being filled with municipal solid waste were installed in 1992 and have reached their useful lifespan, typically estimated at 20 years. The scales are obsolete, replacement parts have become unavailable, and they can no longer be properly calibrated. Replacement of the scales is necessary for the continued operation of the transfer station. Fiscal Impact/Cost Benefit Analysis: The Engineer's Estimate is $257,511.00. Construction will be funded at 100% from the Solid Waste Equipment Reserve Fund. Recommendation: Please extend the bid opening to June 21, 2022 and set the time for 11:30 a.m. or shortly thereafter.
