A road name change is a public process that will take a minimum of eight weeks to complete. Notification of the petition will be forwarded to adjacent property owners advising them of your petition and providing them with an opportunity to comment. Additional road names may be submitted at this time. Once all road name suggestions have been submitted, notification of the petition will then be forwarded to your fire district and JEFFCOM. If the road name choices do not meet emergency services’ standards, the petition will be returned to you so that you may provide additional choices. Otherwise the road name will be chosen based primarily on the clearest name for use in an emergency and secondarily on property owner preference. The E911 Road Naming Ordinance was established to outline a method of assigning address numbers and naming roads to provide for the safety of county citizens and property. Enclosed is a Frequently Asked Questions handout that explains the road naming and addressing process in more detail and a map indicating the location of the road to be named. If the map is inaccurate, please let me know as soon as possible. Please contact me at (360) 379-4484 or hsmith@co.jefferson.wa.us if you have any questions or comments.
