O'Meara with all members present. Lease for portion of Indian Island: On October 21st. the Commissioners met with H. G. Garnett, Capt. , Base Commanding Officer and Lt. Commander Woll, at Naval Torpedo Station, Keyport. Meeting concerned the restrictions imposed, by Navy, on proposed lease area of Indian Island. Commissioners regarded meeting as very satisfactory and land use clarified. Motion by Commissioner Kelly, second by Commissioner Huntingford to sign lease, effective Nov. 1, 1971 through Oct. 31. 1972. Unanimous by Board. Claim for damages from Keith Scruggs, derived from injuries incurred in auto accident on . July 5, 1971. Motion by Commissioner Huntingford, second by Commissioner Kelly to re- ject claim and turn over to Joe Welch, Ins. Claim for damages from Gary D. Jensed, et ux, and George Olson, et ux, for injuries derived from auto accident on July 2, 1971. Motion by Commissioner Kelly, second by Commissioner Huntingford to reject and turn over to Joe Welch, Ins. Motion by Commissioner Huntingford, second by Commissioner Kelly to approve and accept minutes of last meeting as presented. Letter from Victor M. Coster requesting permission to remove bank of dirt piled up against the back of his store at 940 Water St. Contiguous property owned by County. Commissioners will inspect site before making decision, Board received letter from Don Morrison, District Sanitarian, re: D. H. .Sallee's application for building permit. Stated he fully agrees with Mr.. Durant's denial of permit due to lack of large enough area for sewage disposal. Chairman O'Meara advised Board should have hearing with property owners of Paradise Bay to explain problem with septic tanks. Durant and Morrison should also attend. Permit tabled until meeting can be arranged. Request for meeting from John W. Maher, Area Manager, Pope & Talbot Development, Inc. , re: Port Ludlow Projected Shorelines Use Inventory Plan. Meeting to be held Nov. 1st. at 11:30a. m. Board received the following correspondence from the Dept. of Revenue, without comment: 1) Local Sales Tax Distribution; 2) The Dore Decision; and 3) Property Tax Bulletin. Notice from Naval Civil Engineering Laboratory that Navy has established an Environmental Protection Data Base. They request copies of county ordinances, regulations or standards concerning pollution control of water, air solid waste, toxic materials p.nd noise. Information will be forwarded as requested.
