O'Meara with all members present. Hearing for John W. Weaver, Open Space Land Classification. Co. Assessor, Jim Sofie, stated he did not feel government lots should be included. Mr. Weaver said the U. S. Forest Dept. is planting trees which have cost him about $200 so far. Tidelands are owned by some- one other than him, and if compared with adjoining property, it has low bank, and his goes up to 1, 400ft. except for 50ft. of property, (78 acres involved). Mr. Weaver agreed to hold 126 acres as tree farm and 22. 85 acres as limited use water frontage. The petition for class- ification was withdrawn with prerogative to re-apply for classification at a later date. Commissioners approved and signed Resolution No. 21-71 re: Bi-County Youth Opportunity Project for College age students, as follows: Mr. Hail Turnley appeared re: Seamount Estates, Div. No. 2. Mr. Randall M. Durant, Co. Sanitarian, telephoned 9:20a. m. this morning to notify that Ken Merry, Olympic.Health Dist. Sanitarian, stated their approval of water system with the restriction that bond not be released until all work is completed. Letter of verification will be sent in two or three days. Letter needed from Co. Engineer regarding roads before Board can give approval of plat. Motion by Commissioner Kelly, second by Commissioner Huntingford to approve minutes of May 24, 1971 meeting as written. Mr. John Green appeared re: Licensing of candy vending machines. He was informed by the Board that he did not need a. license from the county but he would have to inquire to the State for their regulations. Mr. Ken Hopper appeared re: Sale of gravel pit property. Stated he would like to sell 500ft. of rock.pit property to the county for $600. Commissioners advised having Engineer Becker check out property and Board will find out if there are sufficient funds and then contact Mr. Hopper. Board reviewed applications for Soldiers' & Sailors' Relief Fund for; (1) Stellarae Prince, (2) David E. Smith, (3) Eric N. Bartl, (4) Gilbert Wilkens, and (5)' Jim Shinn. Commiss- ioners approved Stellarae Prince for $125. ; Gilbert Wilkins for $75; and Jim Shinn for $39. Board will hold other two applications for further information. Commissioners approved and signed Agreement with State Dept. of Civil Defense adopting the State Merit System. Motion by Commissioner Huntingford, second by Chairman O'Meara to appoint Robert Goehring as full time coordinator/director of the M. H. / M. R. Board for Jefferson Co, on recommendat- ion of Jeff. Co, M. H. / M. R. Board's personnel committee. Commissioner Kelly abstained. Motion by Commissioner Huntingford, second by Commissioner Kelly to set date for June Board of Equalization for June 28th. Commissioners approved and signed cooperative agreement with Dept. of Game re: Swimming area on Lake Leland, as follows: r Minutes of June 7th. con't. Commissioners received letter from Donald A. Morrison, Olympic Health Dist. re: Garbage g dump on Upper Hoh River. As soon as dump can be closed, Jeff. Co. will be asked to post against further use and perhaps help in covering the accumulation. Board received letter of resignation from Otto Day, Commissioner of Water District No. 1. No replacement appointed at this time. Notice from State Liquor Control Board of license issued to Wilbur E. Lyons, et ux, d/b/a Irondale Grocery, has been transferred as of May 25, 1971 to Douglas Tate Brown, under the same trade name. Notice from State Liquor Control Board of application for Class EF license from Fred Kenneth Klahn and Jean Bernice Klahn, Hoh River Resort. No objection from Board. Notification from Olympic Regional Planning Council of project by U. S. Forest Service to con- struct 10. 1 miles of road to be known as the Elk Rheade Road located in the Olympic National Forest, southeast of Forks. Notice from Division of Institutions that $4, 922. 00 in state funds and $5, 078. 00 in public health funds should be used as working figure for MH/MR program and budget for 1972. Allot- ment for Jeff. Co. for remaining six months of 1971 wil be $1, 845. 00 There being no further .business before the Board, the meeting was adjourned. L
