O'Meara with all members present. Commissioners approved and signed April bills to be paid in May, as follows: Commissioners approved and signed Resolution No. 17-71 re: Co. Rd. Project No. 336,. aics*emiwirs„ • ems. otii 9. " Motion by Commissioner Huntingford, second by Commissioner Kelly to authorize Engineer Becker to call for bids for Shop Equipment for new Co. Shop at Hadlock. Motion unanimous by Board. Chairman O'Meara reported to the Board that he had been in contact with a representitive from Senator Jackson's office re: Indian Island. It was their suggestion to have Comprehen- sive Plan drawn up as to how property could best be used due to possibility of Island being declared "surplus" by U. S. Navy Dept. Motion by Commissioner Kelly, second by Commissioner Huntingford to approve minutes of May 3rd. meeting. Public Notice No. NPS-71 -196 and NPS-71 -200 from Dept. of the Army, Seattle Dist. Corps of Engineers, was received by Commissioners without comment. Commissioners received Proposed Noxious Weed List and Resolution No. 1 relating to per- manent rules of the Noxious Weed Control Board from Dept. of Agriculture. Letter from Lincoln Const. Co. re: Repairs and corrections on West-end Annex. There is confusion as to what repairs have or have not be made. Letter is to be written to Les Roline, archit ect, for conformation. Commissioners received letter from Grays Harbor Regional Planning Commission re: Multi-county Economic Development District. Jefferson County Commissioners will meet with them in Port Angeles to discuss the potential benefits of such an arrangement. Letter from Olympic Air Polution Control Authority re: Variance for burning at Jefferson County garbage dumps. Variance expires after July 1, 1971. Request will be made for extension of variance, outlining steps that have been taken during the past year for preparation for complete dump closure. Letter from Jefferson County Planning Commission re: 1) Indian Island, and 2) Recreation site planned for Eastern Jefferson Co. by Puget Sound and Adjacent Waters Task Force. Commi- ssion stated reasons why they oppose the acquisition of Indian Island by the Wash. State Parks and Recreation Commission and recommends the Board go on record as opposing the removal of private lands from the tax rolls for the establishment of these eight sites. Harry A. Sutliffe, Broker, Dougan, Eader, Reynolds and Wheller Investments, Inc. , appeared regarding Insurance for county employees and a tax sheltered invest ment plan. Mr. Sutliff will present both plans to all county employees at three scheduled meetings. There being no further business before the Board, the meeting was adjourned.
