O'Meara with all members present. Engineer Becker reported to Commissioners that Fair Grounds have been surveyed as per request of the Fair Board. Mrs. Helen Yaculic, Valley Tavern, appeared re: Meeting on licensing of coin-operated machines. Meeting scheduled for Monday, March 1st. at 10:00a. m. Auditor, Betty Temple, presented the Report of Examination of the Road Dept. of Jeff. Co. and Remarks from State of Washington Office of State Auditor. Remarks state that Co. has complied with regulations. Moved by Commissioner Kelly to.accept minutes of February 16th. meeting. Second by Commissioner Huntingford. Commissioners received letter from Pros. Attny. William Daly re: Hartegan vs Jeff. Co. He informed that due to the condition of Court calendar, case will probably not be tried until Spring of 1972, so road plan in the Dosewallips area can be developed accordingly. Co. Assessor, Jim Sofie appeared re: New property taxes. He is definately against rais- ing property taxes so high that people on fixed income can no longer afford to own their homes, which is the state of affairs now due to the State setting property tax valuations. Commissioners concur. Application for assistance from Soldiers' & Sailors° Relief Fund from David Allen Moore for $189. 25 approved and signed by Commissioners. • Commissioners received letter from John Merr ill, Gary Rowe, Ted Porter and Bob Shold regarding air pollution caused by burning at Hadlock garbage dump. County is complying with regulations and in the near future will have sanitary fills throughout the county. Chairman O'Meara received telephone call from G. Brian Egan stating Williams had put in a water line o n his property (Egans Addition), next to the road, in January '71, with- out his knowledge or consent. Informed O'Meara that Engineer Becker knew of the water line at the time of the meeting on Feb. 8th. and said nothing. Becker stated he knew of the water line after it was in, not before. Letter from Pros. Attny. Daly stating that his letter to the Board regarding the operation of bingo type pinball machines had been misinterpreted in the local paper. Stated that it was not Sheriff Hansen's decision to outlaw such machines in the county, but the Courts decision. Copy of letter from Engineer Becker to C. Conrad Green, Attny. , regarding drainage problem in Ludlow Beach area. Meeting will be called at later date for all concerned. Notice from State Liquor Control Board that class EF license applied for by Jack Walters Ruddy and Florence Carpenter Ruddy for "The Hacienda" has been denied because their business is non-operating at this time. Frank Garred, Publisher, Pt. Townsend Leader, appeared re: Cost and sample of magnetic signs for county cars. Commissioners will decide at.later•date. Y� � 4.d 2W • tal, at • Minutes of Feb. 22nd continued. Letter from Everett L. Milton re: Vacation of Co. Rd. No. 314. Expressed satisfaction with Commissioners for their decision not to vacate. Chairman O'Meara signed approval of Co. Rd. Project No. 328. Ness to Flagler Road; the Green Spot on Co. Rd. No, 4. The last meeting of the Puget Sound Basins Workshop was held with Dennis Lundblad, Co-ordinator, Dept. of Ecology, presiding. Minutes with suggestions from members concerning water, drainage and pollution will be sent to the Dept. of Ecology to be incor- porated into their survey. There being no further business before the Board, the meeting was adjourned. • •
