SUMMARY
Performs variety of general office administration duties. Provides support to designated
divisions of the Public Works Department and provides assistance to the public,
department and County services by performing the following duties. Works under the
direction of a supervisor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be
assigned.
Performs clerical and general office duties applying word processing and spread sheet
skills.
Answers and directs incoming telephone calls. Answers routine questions or directs
more complicated requests for information to appropriate staff person.
Types office documents, routine correspondence, and reports, utilizing word processing
software on a personal computer.
Uses various software to create spreadsheets, flyers and other relevant information.
Enters information into database.
Assists at public counter to provide general information about Public Works activities.
Directs more complex requests for information to appropriate staff.
Sort and distribute mail; file documents.
QUALIFICATIONS. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and computer
experience using word processing and spreadsheet software. Must have
excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information
in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of
the organization.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished
in written, oral, or diagram form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid Washington State Driver’s License.
