Responsible for collection of solid waste at County transfer station or drop box site.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be
assigned.
Receipt cash, handle money and operate cash register.
Inspect waste prior to dumping to prevent unacceptable material from being placed onto
tipping floor or into drop box.
Direct/spot vehicles that dump solid waste onto tipping floor or into drop box.
Assist with administrative tasks.
Clean facilities and surrounding area.
Interact with public, respond to inquiries.
QUALIFICATIONS. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and, one to three months
related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and
experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information
in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of
the organization.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished
in written, oral, or diagram form.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
•Ability to work in a team-based environment.
•Ability to successfully complete County Cash Handling training.
•Knowledge of general office skills in use of a keyboard, calculator, copier and other
common office equipment in area of assignment.
•Ability to read and understand operation and safety manuals.
•Ability to maintain a pleasant, courteous demeanor in dealing with the public and
other County employees in a sometimes stressful environment.

Valid Washington State Driver's License
