ORDER
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners, Jefferson County,
did by Resolution No. 3-76, adopted on the 20th day of January, 1976,
declare that an emergency existed to provide additional funds for the
Sheriff's Department in the sum of $3,250.51; and set a hearing on
said emergency for February 2, 1976, at the hour of 10:00a.m., and
WHEREAS, notice of said hearing was published for one week in
the local newspaper as required by law; and
WHEREAS, this being the time and place set for said hearing,
and no objection or objection interposed;
THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED by the Board of County Commissioners,
that there be and there is hereby appropriated for the County Sheriff's
Department the sum of $3,250.51 in unexpended funds to provide for
salaries and wages, and jail inmate board; and be'it
FURTHER. ORDERED, that the County Auditor be, and she is hereby
empowered to draw warrants against the following accounts, not exceed-
ing the gross amounts so appropriated to wit:
521.00.22.005 .-. $ 814.56
521.00.12.001 $2,435.95
unless a review is applied for within five days from date hereof.

Request for Emergency Appropriation

Gentlemen:
Please be advised that after a thorough 'examination of my current budget
it appears that the budge~ted amount i_n BARS Account Number
of $ /~&O~. ~0 of the ~A~/L~ ~z~ Fund is insufficient to pay
neces~'~Y e~p~nses of th~s ~epartment for this year. After a careful
examination of the expenditures under this fund in previous years, and a
thorough examination of the present needs of this department under the
current year, I estimate %hat it will be necessary to have an additional
appropriation in the form of an emergency appropriation in the approxi-
mate amount of $ o~/:~ ~ for this current year for the following
reasons:
The main' jail prisoner, food' costs for the month of December 1975 was $873.00.
This is the largest monthly expense for many years. Also,'there were more
inmates in the Annex jail than antici0ated.
Accordingly, I request permission from the Board of County Commissioners
for an emergency appropriation in the sum of $ c~/~,~A f.or the cur-
rent year.

necessary expenses of this departme~nt for this year. After a careful
examination of the expenditures under this fund in previous years, and a
thorough examination of the present needs of this department under the
current year, I estimate that it will be necessary to have an additional
appropriation in the form of an emergency appropriation in the approxi-
mate amount of $ ~_.~ for this current year for the following
r~sons:
1975 Union agreement requires time and a half after 8 hour'day and 40 hour week.
This coupled with an increase in S & R missions,'a homicide and insufficient
personnel to cover 24 hours per day necessitated time and .a half pay. beyond that.
which could be forseen.
Accordingly, I request permission from the Board of County Commissioners
for an emergency appropriation in the sum of $ ~g~~' for the cur-
rent year.
