ORDER
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners, Jefferson County,
did by Resolution No. 30-76, adopted on the 10th day of May, 1976,
declare that an emergency existed to provide additional funds for the
Jefferson County Civil Service Commission in the sum of $650.00; and
set a hearing on said emergency for May 24, 1976, at the hour of
10:00a.m.; and
WHEREAS, notice of said hearing was published for one week in
the local newspaper as required by law; and
WHEREAS, this being the time and place set for said hearing,
and no objection or objection interposed;
THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED by the Board of County Commissioners,
that there be and there is hereby appropriated for the Jefferson County
Civil Service Commission the sum of $650.00 in unexpended funds to be
used for salaries and wages~ supplies, and other services; and be it
FURTHER ORDERED, that the County Aduitor be, and she is hereby
empowered to draw warrants against the followint accounts, not exceeding
the gross amount so appropriated to wit:

2O $100.00
3O $450.00
unless a review is applied for within five days from date hereof.

Request for Emergency Appropriation

Gentlemen:
Please be advised that after a thorough examination of my current budget
it appears that the budgeted amount-in BARS Account Number
of $_AQ0~00 of the Civil Service Commission Fund is insufficient to pay.
necessary expenses of this department for this year. After a careful
examination of the expenditures under this fund in previous years, and a
thorough examination of the present needs of this department under the
current year, I estimate that it'will be necessary to have an additional
appropriation in the form of an emergency appropriation in the approxi-
mate amount of $ 650.00 for this current year for the following
reasons:Being a newly appointed Board and no past guidelines to follow, it..
was.necessary to start from scratch and prepare an examination, following procedures
as dictated by State of ~,~ ~ .
.~.~shinoton RCW 41.14 In order to exmedite the procedure and
prepare an examination, it was deemed advisable to obtain outside assistance. Some
of~ this assistance will be eliminated in the futmra, except for typing and Xeroxing
which, must be done by personnel other than Courthouse employees'because oi'
security factors involved.. ~]he S[herif£ has now request-~d that we prepare an exami-
nation for Dispatcher and this will require a procedure similar zo that of Deputy.
At the pz~sent -time we have overdrawn our budget by ~t~209.20, and. it is e.stima-
ted that we will require an emergency appropriation of ~'~650.00 to cover this and to
carry out the contemplated, program .for ~he year 1976. The ~oard is required by. law
to hold a meeting.at least once a month, although the present tests for each job
title.will be effective for a'two year meriod.

Accordingly, I reques~ permission from the Board of County Commissioners
for an emergency appropriation in the sum of $ 650.00 for the cur-
rent year. '.
