HomeMy WebLinkAboutRecreation Assistant I Job Description 071322July 13, 2022 Page 1 of 2 JEFFERSON COUNTY Job Description Job Title: Recreation Assistant I Clerk-Hire Department: Public Works Division: Parks & Recreation FLSA Exempt (Y/N): No Union: No Salary Level: $17.50 Works up to 69 hours/month SUMMARY: Works independently, maintains and develops programs, follows established program duties, may develop, promote, and design recreation programs. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Coordinate a variety of recreation programs at the request of Recreation Supervisors, Assistant Recreation Manager or the Parks and Recreation Manager. Coordinate youth and adult activities at various recreation venues. Understands safety and appropriate use of facilities. Performs limited facilities maintenance. Coordinate registration for programs. Communicates and works effectively with other staff. Uses computer with numerous applications including MS WORD, EXCEL, OUTLOOK, video conference applications, and the Jefferson County Parks and Recreation Database. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or GED and 6 to 12 months of related experience or training. Must have a valid WA State Driver’s License. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. July 13, 2022 Page 2 of 2 MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Current First Aid and CPR Certification - may be obtained after employment OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Have interest in recreation and leisure services and enjoy working with youth and general public in a recreation setting.
