HomeMy WebLinkAbout070722 No Shooting zone________________________________ ALERT: BE CAUTIOUS This email originated outside the organization. Do not open attachments or click on links if you are not expecting them. ________________________________ We live off Hidden Trail Road immediately adjacent to the 120 acres of DNR forest land located north of the county waste facility. Jolie way is on the west side of this DNR parcel and the very similar Hidden trail neighborhood is on the east side of the DNR. I can understand the safety concerns of the Jolie Way neighbors as we hear quite a lot of shooting from that area, some of which occurs after dark. I support their request for no shooting zone but I am concerned that the DNR forest land might be included in this zone. I do not believe there is a safety problem caused by shooting on the DNR land and do not support including it in a no shooting zone. Over the past 20 years I have occasionally hunted this property and may want to do so again. I do not believe that hunting on this DNR parcel poses a significant safety problem and that the safety concerns stem from irresponsible shooting rather than legal hunting. I can support a “no target shooting” ban because regular shooting seems inappropriate on a 120 acre parcel surrounded by residential 5 acre tracts but legal, ethical hunting should not banned on this parcel. Thanks for the opportunity to voice my opinion. Mike Cronin 371 Hidden Trail Road
