County Commissioners, Dr Allison Berry, and Willie Bence,

Thank you,

Questions for Dr Allison Berry:
1. At start of pandemic there was concern of spreading the Covid virus on surfaces. We were advised to frequently wipe down household surfaces as well as things coming into our home,
such as groceries, packages, etc. I have not heard any updated information about this. Is there new evidence? Updated guidelines?
2. My question is regarding the onset of symptoms in a Covid positive person. Dr. Berry has stated that a vaccinated/boosted person shows symptoms sooner than a non-vaccinated person
(which I find reassuring). Does this also apply to a person who is not vaccinated but has been sick with Covid in the past?
3. My understanding is more vaccinated and boosted people are getting Covid, right now. The vaccination helps them have less severe illness.
What are you seeing as far a Long Covid in these less severe cases of people who are vaccinated and at least one booster?
4. If a food handler at a food van or kiosk has Covid, what is the risk to a masked purchaser of getting Covid? In other words what is the risk of food contamination with the virus?
5. I just received new test kits in the mail and they already have an expired expiration date. How long are they good for?
6. In the last week, I've seen several stories about the BA.2.75 variant (such as this one in the International Business Times -
https://www.ibtimes.com/ba275-covid-cases-growing-where-has-new-variant-been-detected-3575285 <https://www.ibtimes.com/ba275-covid-cases-growing-where-has-new-variant-been-detected-3575285>
).
The new variant is apparently spreading rapidly in India and has now been detected in seven US states. The stories indicate the variant might be outcompeting BA5 - at least in India
- and appears to evade vaccines and previous infection immunity.
Is this mostly media hype or is it something to be concerned about? What is the latest reliable info on this variant?
Thanks again for all you do for our community.
