JEFFERSON COUNTY
BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
AGENDA REQUEST
To: Board of County Commissioners
Mark McCauley, County Administrator
From: Monte Reinders, Public Works Director / County Engineer
Agenda Date: July 25, 2022
Subject: Briefing on the Current Status of the Olympic Discovery Trail (ODT)
Statement of Issue:
The intent of this briefing is for Public Works, together with the Peninsula Trails
Coalition (PTC), to provide the BoCC with a status update on current ODT work in
Jefferson County.
Analysis/Strategic Goals/Pro's Et Con's:
The total planned length of the ODT in Jefferson County is 27 miles from the City of
Port Townsend to the Clallam County line. Two thirds are complete, of which
approximately 9-miles share existing low volume/low speed county roads, 9-miles are
on existing non-motorized trails, and 9-miles remain to be built. Public Works is
currently focusing on the approximately 3-mile-long trail segment between the Milo-
Curry Road trailhead and Anderson Lake State Park. There are a variety of other less
developed ODT projects also currently in progress.
Fiscal Impact/Cost Benefit Analysis:
None from the briefing.
Recommendation:
Discuss with Public Works and the Peninsula Trails Coalition the current status of
ongoing ODT projects in Jefferson County.
