March 9, 1994 Mr. Lee Tiekell, Executive Director Clallam/Jefferson Community Action Council 802 Sheridan, 3rd Floor Port Townsend, Washington 98368 Dear Mr. Tickell: Enclosed you will find the annual review report resulting from my visit to your office on March 1 and 2, 1994, to review the Housing Quality Standards (HQS) component of the Section 8 Rental Assistance Program. The review consisted of an inspection of 11 units or five percent of the units under a Section 8 lease (whichever was greater), and a discussion of the results with your Section 8 staff. Please respond within 60 days of receipt of this report concerning the status of each finding and comment. Eleven units were inspected and five failed. Of those that failed, no unit had a pre-existing condition, that is, a failing item. that should have been cited by the inspector and corrected at the last inspection. I was impressed with the overall condition of the majority of the units that I saw. It was apparent that not only are your staff able to keep the landlords motivated to maintain the units, but the tenants as well seem to take responsibility for their homes. I think that this shows the hard work and dedication of your staff toward maintaining a quality Section 8 program. I want to thank you and your staff for the cooperation and hospitality extended to me during the review. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at (206) 586-6862.
