Addin9 value to the logs has not been a priority because of the abundance of this natural product. WoodNet seeks to r.~erse this trend. The proposed project will allow timber dependent communities to develop methods to diversify their economies, add new skills and products to the market place, and add value to secondary wood products before they leave the area. without developin9 new .kills and products, it is antioipated that the youngest and brightest residents of timber dependent communities will be forced to leave and employment for those remain1n; will be marGinal.
