RESOLUTION NO.
4-92
WHEREAS, on April 3, 1972 Resolution No. 12-72 was approved and
signed changing the name of the local agency organized and performing civil defense
functions in Jefferson County pursuant to RCW 38.52.070 to the JEFFERSON
COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF EMERGENCY SERVICES, and
WHEREAS, The State recognizes that government disaster preparedness
agencies do not provide actual emergency services, but do provide emergency
management functions prior to, during and after a disaster, and
WHEREAS, RCW 38.52.005 (1989) allows all local organizations,
organized and performing emergency management functions pursuant to RCW
38.52.070 to change their name to the Department of Emergency Management.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOL VED, that the Jefferson County
Department of Emergency Services shall be hereafter known as, and its' name
changed to the JEFFERSON COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF EMERGENCY
MANAGEMENT, and that this Resolution repeals and replaces Resolution No. 12-72.

RCW 38.52.005 DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT TO ADMINISTER
EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT PROGRAM--LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS AUTHORIZED TO CHANGE
NAME. The department of community development shall administer the
comprehensive emergency management program of the state of Washington
as provided for in this chapter. All local organizations, organized
and performing emergency management functions pursuant to RCW 38.52-
.070, may change their name and be called the
department/division of emergency management. [1986 c 266 S 22; 1984 c
