In the Matter of Proclaiming
the Month of September as
JEFFERSON COUNTY WALKS AGAINST
AIDS MONTH

~ESOLUTION NO. 81-92
}
}
WHEREAS, over 150,000 American people have died of AIDS by the end
of July, 1992; and,
WHEREAS, an estimate of 15,000 people are infected with HIV in
Washington State; and,
WHEREAS, eight cases of AIDS have ben reported in Jefferson County;
this number does not take into account people with AIDS who relocate to Jefferson
County from other areas, nor does it take into account people with HIV infection in the
County; and,
WHEREAS, HIV makes no moral judgements about who it will affect
based on age, gender, race, creed, or national origin; and,
WHEREAS, the Columbia-Olympic AIDS Services Task Force will hold a
WALK AGAINST AIDS on September 26, 1992 in Port Townsend, Washington to raise
funds to help meet the needs of persons affected by HIV disease in Jefferson County.
NOw, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOL VED, that the Board of Commissioners
of Jefferson County hereby proclaim the month of September, 1992 as:
JEFFERSON COUNTY WALKS AGAINST AIDS MONTH
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board of Commissioners urge all
citizens to join this effort by walking on September 26 or by contributing to the
Columbia-Olympic AIDS Task Force.
