RESOLUTION NO. 59-91
IN SUPPORT OF
PARTICIPATION IN THE DUNGENESS-QUILCENE PILOT PROJECT
UNDER THE TERMS OF THE CHELAN AGREEMENT
WHEREAS, The State Department of Ecology has accepted the
nomination by the Water Resources Forum, of the following approximate area,
hereinafter referred to as the Dungeness-Quilcene Project Area, as the area in
which to conduct a water resources pilot project under the terms of the Chelan
Agreement:
Water Resource Inventory Area (WRIA) 17, encompassing the
northeast corner of the Olympic Peninsula, from the watershed of the
Quilcene River in the south through the watershed of Sequim Bay in
the northwest, and
the eastern portion of WRIA 18, in the north-central Olympic Peninsula
from the watershed of the Dungeness River in the east through the
watershed of Bagley Creek in the west (this western boundary is not
finalized); and
WHEREAS, the terms of the Water Resources Forum's Chelan
Agreement and the Department of Ecology call for the unanimous involvement of
all local governments, tribes and public utility districts encompassed within the
project area; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Ecology requires the good faith
commitment of all parties by the July 1, 1991 beginning of the new fiscal year; and
WHEREAS, there are a wide range of questions and specifics that
cannot be addressed prior to this deadline; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, that Jefferson County hereby pledges its full
support and commitment to the Dungeness-Quilcene Water Resources Pilot Project
with the understanding that adequate resources will be available to fulfill this
commitment.
